Tyler Perkins announced as Summer league MVP

Landon ‘23 guard Tyler Perkins was crowned Summer League MVP to kick off the Summer League Playoffs. Averaging 25.1 ppg, 7.4 rebs, and 3.5 steals Perkins has been a stud throughout the regular season and will look to continue his strong play throughout the playoffs.

Landon comes out of round 1 victorious

Landon’s Ari Hobson kicked off the summer league playoffs with a bang. Led by his 15 point and 9 rebound performance, 6th seed Landon came out of round 1 with a 61-53 victory over 11th seed Spalding. While the scoreboard might say overwise, the game truly was a thriller. Landon managed to peel away within the final minute with a 10-0 run to seal the game. Despite being down by 12 at one point, Spalding refused to go down without a fight, even grabbing the lead at one point towards the end of the game.

#14 Patriot pulls off commanding upset

Finishing off the double header for the day, 14th seed Patriot pulled off the upset over #3 St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, with a final score of 74-63. Led by a solid 16 point performance from ‘24 G Dezmond Hopkins, Patriot took command during the first half and kept their foot on the gas throughout the rest of the game. While St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes made some noise during the second half cutting the lead to 4 at one point, it ultimately wasn’t enough to avoid early elimination.

What’s next?

The winners of Monday’s double header, #6 Landon and #14 Patriot, will face off against each other on June 30th in round 2 of the Capitol Hoops Summer League Playoffs.
