Fairfax Christian holds on Tuesday Night, defeating St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, 61-57.

Blake Neal (‘24, F) opened the game with a three from the top of the key for St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, but Fairfax Christian responded with eight consecutive points. Fairfax Christian was getting out in transition, forcing nine steals in the first half and Doyle Brown (‘24, G) could not miss. Brown hit three shots from behind the arc, scoring 14 first half points.

Fairfax Christian’ ball pressure was too much, jumping out to a 25-11 lead. Aiden Argabright (‘25, G) kept St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes in the game with eight first half points and Andrew Ross also added a few buckets cutting the deficit to single digits. 

The game became tight with just under five minutes to play in the first half, but Fairfax Christian exploded from there. Elijah Adegbanro (‘24, F) got downhill with ease, scoring ten first half points and extending Fairfax Christians lead back to double digits. Fred Johnson (‘24, G) hit a corner three as time expired, sending Fairfax Christian into half with a 40-23 lead.

Riley Jacobs (‘25, F) was able to regain momentum for St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes with some easy baskets down low, including an and-1. But Doyle Brown continued his hot stroke from behind the arc, hitting two more threes in the second half. 

St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes began to stifle Fairfax Christian defensively, and cut into the deficit. Kyan Bowman (‘24, G) had a layup through traffic with five minutes left to make it a ten point game. Bowman followed up a few minutes later with a three and Riley Jacobs had a big block on the other end, holding the deficit to six with 1:30 left.

St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes looked to Aiden Argabright with under a minute left and Argabright delivered with a mid range jumper. The ensuing possession St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes forced a steal and Riley Jacobs finished with a layup, making it a one possession game with 20 seconds left. St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes was forced to foul, sending Ke’Juan Richburg (‘24, G) to the line with 14.4 seconds left and he hit both free throws to ice the game for Fairfax Christian.

Fairfax Christian will try to remain undefeated against John Carroll on Thursday night while St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes will play McNamara Wednesday night.
