The Seahawks (South River) defeat Annapolis Area Christian 84-82 in a double overtime thriller. 

AACS got off to a good start, making the Seahawks pay for not protecting the paint. As for the Seahawks, they had a reliable scorer in James Crimaudo (‘24), who contributed 9 points to keep them afloat. With 7 minutes left to play in the half, AACS had an 11 point lead and kept it until the last minute where the Seahawks had a scoring spurt. AACS went into the half leading 36-27. 

The Seahawks cut their lead to 6 but AACS quickly went back up 11 after a layup and a three. The Seahawks made it a one point game (49-48) with 10 minutes left to play after back-to-back threes from James Crimaudo. It was the James Crimaduo show as he scored 25 points this half. In fact, he earned player of the game honors. However, AACS still created separation on the scoreboard thanks to big man Donte Holmes (‘24) who had 11 points this half. With 3:30 left, Holmes finished an and 1 put back and completed the free throw which gave AACS a 64-58 lead. James Crimaduo then hit a three the next play to give the Seahawks 61. AACS scored a 2 the next play.  With 2 minutes left, James Crimaudo hit a three to give the Seahawks 65 (66-65). With 18 seconds left, AACS guard Xavier Johnson double dribbled which resulted in the Seahawks’ possession. The Seahawks had the ball and were down 66-65. AACS played great defense and forced another Seahawks player to shoot the ball, someone who wasn’t James. Fortunately for the Seahawks, they gained possession after a jump ball after the rebound. There were now 3 seconds left. The Seahawks got a shot off and fellow player Shane Corkill got the rebound and was fouled on the way up. He completed 1/2 of the free throws and tied the game at 66. The game went to overtime. 

OT

AACS won the tip and scored the first bucket. The Seahawks responded with a three, which put them up 69-68. The Seahawks had the lead 74-70 with 30 seconds left. Eli Croskey stole the ball from James Crimaudo and finished an and-1 layup in the process. Unfortunately, he missed the free throw and the Seahawks got possession after they were fouled. However, the Seahawks threw the ball away in the process of breaking AACS’s press. AACS inbounded the ball on their side with 9.3 seconds left and Donte Holmes received the ball and was fouled on a layup. He completed both free throws to tie the game at 74 and send it to double overtime. 

DOUBLE OT

AACS won the tip and Eli Croskey completed a layup right off the tip. Seahawks guard Jackson Suggs responded with a three to put them up 77-76. Less than a minute later, the Seahawks scored 5 unanswered points. AACS then scored 6 unanswered points. Suggs responded with a three to put the Seahawks up 84-80. The next play, Donte Holmes hit a pull up jumper to give AACS 82. Time ran out and the Seahawks won the game 84-82 in a double overtime thriller. 

The Seahawks (South River) don’t qualify for the playoffs as they finished their season 1-9. However, they ended it on a good note. As for Annapolis, they are currently 5-4 and a win tomorrow night versus Flint Hill stamps their spot in the playoffs. If they lose, they fall to 5-5, tying that record with six other teams. To break the tie, there will be a blind draw tomorrow night in which 3/7 teams are picked to compete in the playoffs.
