The quarterfinals featured competitive games and great performances that shook up the bracket and gave a different outlook than predicted for the semifinals and potential championship meetings.

Georgetown Prep VS Takoma Academy: The first game of the night was anticipated to be a tough one for both teams. Georgetown Prep entered the game as an underdog while Takoma Academy entered the game as a favorite to win the whole league, however Georgetown Prep was ready to make a surprise as they took control of the first half and pushed a lead all the way up to 16. Takoma Academy was off to a slow start in the first half, but the second half  came back strong and tried to surge a comeback against the Little Hoyas. Sadly it wasn’t enough to prevent the upset of the night and stop Georgetown Prep from advancing to the semifinal 70-62.

Landon VS Patriot: The second game of the evening was anticipated to be an exciting one given the fact Patriot upset the number 3 seed St. Stephen’s St Agnes in the first round. However from the start of the first half, Landon showed that they had control of the game early. Patriot sadly couldn’t get a rhythm in time to make a comeback in the second half which led to Landon cruising to a victory to play in the summer league 77-54.

Dematha VS Gonzaga:  For the third game of the evening, a classic WCAC rivalry game was being played.Gozaga VS Dematha in any sport is always a classic. The first half was a classic battle of baskets between the teams which eventually lead to Dematha taking control of the and leading to end the first half the second half proved to be great with Gonzaga proving to make a great comeback that included some great late game heroics that almost gave them the win. Despite the great effort, Dematha sealed a big win with some late game ending free throws of their own to seal against its arch conference rival 69-68.

Tenley VS Hawks: The Last game of the evening was an interesting and intriguing public school between Northern Virginia and Washington DC. A great summer league meeting that was going to be fun to watch and definitely worth the anitpaction. In the first half the Tigers jumped on the Hawks and took control of the game early, however the Hawks changed the narrative quickly, took over the lead and controlled the first half. Despite holding the lead to start the second half, Tenley wasn’t out of the game just yet, They started to surge a comeback against the hawks after at one point being down 20 and tried to take over the game. Sadly despite the effort of Tenley to keep their summer season alive, The Hawks sealed the win 82-75 to move on to the semifinal.
